Cells

Cells at Virgin Hitz Awards 2007

The first band to be signed to Indee Records, Cells stormed onto the Lao music scene in 2003 with the release of their self-titled debut. The album sold more than 40,000 copies and remained at the top of the Lao radio charts for seven consecutive months. In 2004 and 2005 the band were invited to Thailand by Click Radio to play the FAT Festival and FAT connection, sharing the stage with their Thai rock idols Big Ass and thrilling the Thai audience. 2006 saw the band tour to Singapore and release their followup album ‘Saew’ which was an immediate hit in Lao reinforcing their position as front runners in Lao’s emerging music industry. The success of ‘Saew’ caused the album to be picked up by Thai label GMM Grammy and by the middle of 2007 Cells were receiving top 20 radio airplay in Bangkok and touring relentlessly through Lao and Thailand to crowds in their thousands. The album has gone on to eclipse the success of the bands first album and music video’s for hit songs ‘Waan’ and ‘Leuk Leuk’ have received heavy rotation on MTV, Channel V, Lao Star Channel and True Vision.
