Sam is the genuine article. A singer, songwriter and producer Sam wrote, performed and all the songs on his debut self-titled album in between working on tracks for L.O.G., Aluna and Alexandria at his busy Vientiane studio. Slipping effortlessly between Lao and english Sam’s has perfectly executed an album of soulful R&B and pop that sees Sam poised to become Lao’s first king of pop.

Sam, Nalin, Punky Dolls, Princess, L.O.G, and Sook, perspectively from left to right, and top to bottom, were performing onstage at the Air Asia Lao Launch Concert. The Air Asia’s Concert was held on 17 January 2008 at Mekong River Side. The concert was full of fun and joyness, with the thousand of attandances.

Indee Records is pleased to announce the debut video for their latest signing and Lao R&B sensation Sam. A talented producer and songwriter Sam wrote, performed and recorded Pen Nyang Tor Kun in his busy Vientiane studio and the song is storming up the Lao charts thanks to Sam’s soulful vocals and pop production smarts. Sam is a young man of talents and aspirations that would normally be found in people much older than him. His latest work has been writing, composing, producing and engineering 13 tracks of original music for his first solo album. Pop/RnB would best describe the style of the music. The new CD consists of 8 Lao songs and 5 English songs. The self titled debut is due for release at the end of December 2007.

Unlike other musical prodigies, Sam did not grow up in a musical family. At the age of twelve, Sam moved to Sydney, Australia. Exposed to the big unknown world of music, he was a little more than inspired. Within the first few months, he learned to play the guitar. Although without any musical background, it was clear that the boy was naturally gifted.

Sam was also a fierce drummer and a knowledgeable writer. Along with his first official band, formed in high school, InterWoven, he entered the Australian Youth Rock Battle of the Bands competition of 2000. His band won third price for best hard rock performance, and Sam, first price for best hard rock drummer.

Sam graduated Australian high school in 2002 with top scores in music and enrolled in a degree of Bachelor of Arts, majoring in recording arts at JMC academy and SAE Sydney. Over the years he had already been digitally composing and recording his music, having a tertiary degree in recording was the right step forward. He graduated in 2005.

After nine years in Australia, Sam returned home and started his own recording studio. His skills and experiences soon became known in the local industry. He got involved in helping Indee Records and recently was offered a recording contract with the local label. Sam has been busy ever since.

The telecommunication company Millicom Lao Co Ltd, more commonly known as Tigo, wowed audiences with a mini concert and a lucky draw at the Centre Point in Sihom village last Friday.

Local artists who joined in the event included well known Lao rappers L.O.G. - Lao Original Gangstaz, all girl pop star band Princess, and the Lao Bangfai Breakdancing Club.

The event kicked off with a series of games encouraging audience participation, during which the organisers handed out several gift packs to lucky members of the audience.

Then followed songs from the enchanting Princess, including the hits Hou Suek Yang Dai (What You Feel), Bor Dai Lai Chai (I Don’t Have Many Hearts) and Thouk Nathy (Every Minute). Lao Bangfai, comprising six new more youthful members, then took to the stage with a display of dance dexterity, highlighted with a demonstration of head standing and body balancing by a rotund dancer named Tom and the only girl dancer, Noy, which raised a lot of laughter and a standing ovation from the audience.

The concert then closed with a contribution of rap songs, including Eyang Ka Dai (Whatever), by L.O.G.

The release of the video winds up a busy twelve months for Princess. After releasing their debut self-titled album, recorded with international producer Hamish Robertson, the girls have toured Lao, performing to massive crowds in Vientiane, Savanakhet, Pakse and Luang Prabang; became the public faces for Suntec Mobile and; performed onstage with Korean superstars Baby-Vox.
